How To Make Buchi Balls or Sesame Balls

I got this recipe from a random commenter on a post featuring Buchi Recipe on Facebook. I couldn't recall her name, nonetheless, many thanks to her!

Raw

Cooked

Buchi Balls

3 cups glutinous rice flour
1/2 cup rice flour
1/2 cup plain, dried mashed potatoes in a box
1 & 1/2 cups warm water
3/4 cup white sugar
1 & 1/2 cups of sesame seeds

Filling: Choose any of the following;

Cubed Eden Cheese- Hubby's favorite filling
Ube jam
Mango jam
Pineapple jam
Candied mung beans

Instruction:

Combine dry ingredients preferably using a whisk. Slowly pour a third part of water in the dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Pour in half of the remaining water to the mixture, mix for few mins then pour the last remaining water. Using your bare hands, mixed the dough lightly until it is thoroughly incorporated and until it is smooth. Put the dough in a bowl, cover and let it rest for 10 mins.

After 10 mins, make a ball out of the dough using a teaspoon as basis of the size to get the same size of balls. Flatten the ball, put the filling in then form into a ball again using the palm of your hands then roll it in sesame seeds. Do the same thing with the rest of the dough.

Fry the balls in a generous amount of oil in a low fire, don’t overcrowd them. When the balls afloat and turn golden brown in color, they are done.

Pinoy Stuff for My Pantry

We did some shopping today and as usual, we included Pinoy stuff like Alamang (shrimp paste), Datu Puti soy sauce and vinegar (if there were Silver Swan brand, that would have been better but the Asian store in Reno where I went did not have it), egg crackers, Knorr sinigang mix, Lucky Me cup noodles, Patis (fish sauce), and Super Q yellow Bihon.

I do not really use them everyday but I make sure I have them when I need them.

When you are away from your country, buying stuff that you used to get back home is just heaven :)

Thanks for dropping by! Have a good one!
